Botox® on the other hand weakens overactive muscles. Botox and fillers, when properly used in the right places, will diminish facial lines and deep wrinkles, thereby reducing deep folds. By relaxing muscles can be used for specific things like softening creases in a certain areas and temporarily reducing wrinkles. Fillers fill in grooves, providing volume to a deflated face and providing some lift to a sagging face. Fillers are also used to plump up thin lips. They are even used to improve the appearance of scars, such as pock marks from acne. When it comes to addressing the signs of aging, fillers are an effective aspect of facial rejuvenation.

Of course, there are choices in dermal fillers. At Dr. O LifeXtension, we have made our choices very carefully. We want only the highest quality products for our patients. We use Juvederm Ultra Plus XC and Juvederm Voluma as our main fillers. We get the results we are aiming for and the results last for a reasonable length of time. These are leading products in the industry, with a long track record of success.
Juvederm is an FDA-approved injectable gel and instantly adds volume to the cheeks and face. It provides nice contouring and a subtle lift that can potentially last for up to 18 months. Juvederm is typically used in conjunction with platelet rich plasma when performing a Vampire Facelift. Patients can also receive a volume lift without PRP, using only Juvederm. Juvederm Voluma is a specific product that involves a deeper injections to augment the cheek area, and practitioners must be properly trained and very skilled at this type of procedure. Our patients are in very good hands with Dr. Okereke. She utilizes Juvederm UltraPlusXC because it lasts longer than other Juvederm products. This product can be strategically placed to provide some lift to the brow.
Botox is highly popular and is made from a bacterial toxin. A much diluted solution of this is used and is completely safe when competently injected. In a sense, it weakens the muscles in the immediate area where it is applied, which successfully reduces wrinkles. In 2002, it was approved by the FDA for treatment of moderate to severe frown lines. It is most often used on the forehead but is also used for the fine lines around the eye, known as crow’s feet. Receiving a Botox treatment takes only a few minutes. No anesthesia is required. It takes about one week for the full effect to be apparent, and it is used in both men and women.
A Botox facelift can be done to provide a temporary facelift. Many people choose this when they are approaching a special event or upcoming photography. Botox is also effective for people who have Hyperhidrosis, which is a condition of excessive sweating.
